Do runners actually need another training app?
Garmin is good. Apple Watch is good. COROS is good. Strava is useful. Runna can build a plan. A human coach may be better than all of them. So why build RunAI?
The strongest argument against RunAI is simple: runners already have plenty of good tools.
Your watch records the run. Your platform stores the history. Your training app gives you workouts. Your AI can analyse the data. A good human coach can make sense of the messy bits.
The existing solutions are not the enemy
They solve real problems well. Garmin and COROS are excellent running ecosystems. Apple makes tracking effortless. Strava makes your training history useful and social. Runna makes structured plans approachable. General AI is flexible. Human coaches bring judgement and accountability.
That is why RunAI cannot justify itself by saying “we also have workouts” or “we also use AI.”
The missing part is usually the handover
One system records. Another plans. Another analyses. Then the runner still has to decide what all of it means and whether something should change.
The gap we care about is keeping the goal, the plan, the completed training and the athlete's response connected without making the runner manage the machinery.
What happens after the plan?
Can the system tell whether the training is taking you where it expected? Can it learn from the difference between what was prescribed and what actually happened? Can it become more useful over months and years instead of requiring more prompts, more context and more maintenance?
And eventually, can it learn not only from you, but from patterns across many runners while still making the decision personal to you?
That is the bet
RunAI is being built around a simple loop: plan → run → response → learn → adjust.
Not another dashboard to manage. Not another place to manually copy your life into. A system that is meant to keep doing the work in the background while you keep running.
If your current setup already does all of that well, you probably do not need RunAI. If it does not, that is exactly the gap we are trying to close.
More on each approach
Want to test the other approach?
RunAI is in early beta. We're looking for runners who already care about their training and want to challenge how the system adapts.
